If you registered your domain somewhere else (for example GoDaddy, VentraIP, Namecheap, Netregistry or Squarespace), you can still use it with WebFulHost. You just need to "point" the domain at your hosting by changing its nameservers. It takes about five minutes.
What you need
- Login details for wherever you registered your domain.
- Your WebFulHost nameservers:
ns1.sitetheidea.comandns2.sitetheidea.com.
The simple version
- Log in to your domain registrar.
- Find the DNS or nameservers settings for your domain.
- Replace the current nameservers with
ns1.sitetheidea.comandns2.sitetheidea.com. - Save the changes.
- Wait — propagation can take up to 24–48 hours.
Registrars word things differently
Every registrar uses slightly different wording. Look for any of these in your domain settings:
- Nameservers / Name servers
- DNS settings or DNS management
- Custom DNS
- Manage DNS
Whatever the label, the goal is the same: replace the two nameserver values with WebFulHost's. If your registrar asks for an "IP address" instead, you're on the wrong screen — that's DNS management, not nameserver settings. Open a ticket if you're unsure.
A couple of things worth knowing
- Email can change too. If your domain used email with your old host, pointing the nameservers will move your email hosting to WebFulHost once the new MX records resolve. Have your email accounts set up first.
- You don't need to transfer the domain. "Pointing" via nameservers doesn't move your registration — your registrar still bills you for the domain.
After the switch
